About me
Growing up in a family of artists, with musician parents and grandparents that earned their bread in theatre and dance, I always felt the creative urge myself. As a little kid I loved crafting things, like perfume out of flower leaves, or drawings of my stuffed animals. I painted and made statues out of clay. The seed of goldsmithing was planted by my uncle when I was seven. He was an amateur gold and silver smith and he was the first to show me how to mend a ring. I can still remember the magical feeling when I held my first shiny silver ring in my hand. A few years later I attended art school and studied Dessin Design at Vogue Academy, Amsterdam. But I decided in my twenties that I also needed a degree to pay my bills. I studied social studies for five years before I realized this line of work was not for me. My working life started when I turned my student side job as a barista into a career. In sixteen years I learned all there is to know in the specialty coffee industry and worked at numerous cafes in Amsterdam, Haarlem and Melbourne with passion and enthusiasm. I almost started my own coffee place! And then, during Covid, while the world stood still and many like myself could take the time to reflect, I realized I missed creating things. I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason and I came along the goldsmith course in Schoonhoven and started my new journey.
